The Catalyst

So the last few months have been in one word...'change'. I am very thankful for everything that has happened, is happening, and that will happen. I can't fully express in words how I feel about what is going on, other than one word: amazing. What is going on is amazing. God is so amazing. I have seen him change things and create things that would not be possible without his hand in it. At this point I am going to have faith in the unseen.  I'm going to have faith in the 'Impossible' because Jesus specializes in the impossible. He specializes in using experiences to better us, and to refine us.

One change that has occurred is my sudden fascination with men's wear. For the longest time I thought my main focus in design would be women's wear. Maybe I would dabble in a few things here and there but mostly just women's. I did a lot of brainstorming over the winter, some experimenting. It wasn't until March things started shifting. I was asked to create 2 ties for Rachelle Romanowski Willnus, they were to be modeled at her Kentucky Derby Event. That was when the 'dabble' would become much more.

I decided I was going to challenge what I knew about ties, what was expected; and take it to the next level. I like bending the rules, I like manipulating the idea of what is traditional to create something out of the box. There is nothing wrong with traditional...it has it's purposes but part of my brain tells me "Go Avant garde!!!" So I questioned design. What is masculine? What is feminine? What separates those two ideas? I solved the problem I created for myself...which I tend to enjoy. I created the first 2 of my casual ties.

After that I challenged myself more, creating over 15 ties. I was determined to find the art history in my work. I was willing to make mistakes, and to discover something unusual. And here we are in June. I find myself excited for what is to come of this change.

Masters of Style

The commercial:

I have been seeing this Gillette commercial a few times when watching television... I thought it was interesting how the ad presented the men's looks. Each of them had similar outfits but they were slightly different to express their personal way of dressing. I really liked seeing how to style in a variety of ways with a navy jacket. This commercial makes me want to make a skinny tie..even more so.

The men in the commercial talk of style in the videos below:

Each of the men kind of have an idea of what their style is and define it in different ways.

Nail Talk

So last summer while I was in New York I saw several girls wearing a color like this or very similar. I found a peachy/coral color like this at Sephora the from the brand ILLAMASQUA. I'm sure it is a quality product but I wasn't willing to pay at that price point for nail polish. The other day I found this Maybelline nail polish at Meijer and I was so excited to find the color I have been wanting for almost a year. The color is 60 Peachy Petal. I think the price is reasonable and a great buy for spring and summer.

wow! way better than 3D

I love how this video makes me feel like I am in

Kauai.

It is amazing what talent is capable of making. I think everyone is talented in their own way and it is really cool to see work of others at their peak performance. This vid is breathtaking. Videography is an art form and can be used in this way.. as a motion filled canvas capturing just a small portion of beauty on this Earth.

Great Find!

My sister gave me a great idea so I thought I would share it. She told me about this trouser hanger and I had to buy it. It is great because it is made to hold 4 pairs of slacks but it can also be used to hold jewelry! It has rubber friction tubes on the bars. So when I put my necklaces on it they won't move. I'm really happy about this because this is a fantastic way to stay more organized. I also like that this jewelry organizer will not take up a lot of space, and it can easily be moved around if need be.

Great Find @
Bed Bath and Beyond
$7.99
****This would also be great to organize scarfs, belts, ties, bracelets...Use your imagination :)

Kate!

Kate!

After visiting the Kate Spade store I decided to use her products to inspire me to create a vaycay look and include other items that would complete that experience :) Her bags are very cool and I love the use of bright colors in the clothing as well.

Sneak Peek

The past few months I have been brainstorming and creating designs for the spring and summer. I just wanted to give a special preview before I post my garments to sell. I am going to be focusing on creating garments with color blocking, bright, and muted colors...all of which are trending right now. I like up cycling fabrics and bringing new life with the materials I use. If you are interested in hand made, locally made products I hope you enjoy my presentation. :)
