High Heel Marathon

 

On your mark.Get set. Go!  SADA (student apparel design association) put together a very fun event I participated in yesterday! SADA supported the Path of Pink org. by donating part of the earnings from the event to them. Path of Pink designs clothing for women who are breast cancer survivors. The ladies were racing about a block length, between Elizabeth and Burchum. The prize for winning the race was a DSW gift card.This Marathon kicked off the start to Fashion Week and is leading up to the SADA fashion show on Saturday. (running in heels is not an easy task, considering one of mine almost came off!)

Without Shoes

How would your day go if you had to go without shoes?

Well there are children going without shoes everyday. "According to a statement from TOMS Shoes, wearing shoes can prevent many global health and education problems. In Ethiopia, for example, it is estimated that one million people are affected by Podoconiosis, a disease caused when walking without shoes in volcanic soil." Toms shoes makes it their goal to provide shoes to a child every time their company sells a pair of shoes. "According to a statement from the company, more than 400,000 pairs of shoes have reached children in need since the movement began about three years ago." One Day Without Shoes is an event held today, April 8th to bring international recognition of this need by walking barefoot whether for a few minutes, walking to work or at my school ...walking as a group on campus.
