Kentucky Derby 136

Aside from the racing and the other festivities that will go on tomorrow at the Kentucky Derby, there is another aspect of this event that attendees look forward to every year... the fashion! It seems like a fun event to dress up for! There are a wide variety of spring colors that illuminate every outfit. The traditional pieces for the women to wear are a cute dress and a gorgeous hat to go with it!

My sister and I went to Kentucky last summer to visit our cousins and we all went to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. There were some historical fashions on display.

I love these, even though part of me wishes typewriters were not taken apart..I love looking at antiques and the idea of keeping them in good condition. I also like the idea of making an old product new again by using it for a different purpose.

*Fashion design is needed for everyday life. Not only are clothes manufactured, but also seat belts, flame resistant seats in airplanes, water resistant fabics, anti-bacterial fabric for hospitals, etc. The list goes on, and shows how vital this industry is in our daily lives.

*Some new findings in the fashion world are garments made from bamboo and pinapple.Fashion is also "going green" as our society is.

*Angora clothing is made from the Angora rabbit not the Angora goat.

* If you are looking for breathable clothing choose ones made from cotton, wool, and rayon ... not nylon, polyester nor olefan.

* Silk may be pretty and expensive but raw silk is stinky :P
