What a Tool!

I bought these earrings in #NYC from Miss Hoe at Prince Street and Bowery. I liked her collection of charm earrings. I choose these ones because they are unexpected and not overused motifs. I also don't mind stylin' wrenches. Some of my favorite kind of jewelry pieces are the ones with cute charms like my Betsy Johnson bracelets.

The #Talent and Tie

So the big day had finally arrived. All the preparation, story boarding and discussion came to life. Its an exciting process to plan the filming and photography shoots. I love brainstorming and bringing a variety of ideas together. Yesterday was when the crew joined to create a product. This product to selling a tie "The Michael" through still shots and moving. This tie is named after my father; it is silver, and woven with paisleys. Sharing my experiences in fashion is fun; especially with family. I am so glad my cousin Jon Paul (of the Jon Paul tie) was able to be part of this project. He loves fashion and he was able to see a side of the business only a few do. Family is part of my life and the more I include my life in my brand the more meaningful it is to me....It becomes something more to me than fashion...ITS a reflection of ME! I learned something. Filming in some ways is much different than photography. On film the behaviors of the 'talent' have to be more realistic. A lot of thought must go into each step of the story.

East to West, West to East

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon this is what I wore. My family and I traveled across the state to spend the day surprising my sister...a birthday surprise. Birthday Cake...friends...family...bratwurst...Buddy the dog...and swimming. The end of the night was finished off by driving from the west side of Michigan to the east listening to Thriller :)

Suit Up! Sorta

The thing with styling is that its not necessarily about buying new outfit after new outfit. I mean if you have to start from scratch; then sure. I would prefer to use items I already own and manipulate them in ways to create entirely different presentations.

Buying key staple pieces that can be used in many looks is really important. This was my mid week look. I would say the pants I'm wearing are one of those staple pieces I'm talking about. I dressed them up in this picture but previously I have also dressed them down when wearing boat shoes. I specifically made this tie to go with this outfit. I already had the heels and the pants but my look needed something to connect those colors and bring the eye from my shoes to my torso. I was really happy to find these coral and nude fabrics. They are not only matching colors but I also love the different textures with the lace and woven dots on the surface.

The colors that are popping in this look are the washed out pink in the blazer, also the coral in the tie knot and pants. The background colors that balance those colors are the neutrals. I love my neutrals. I used nude and grey. Nude heels and tie body. Grey tunic, grey nail polish, and a grey skinny belt.

This look may have masculine origins but the ruffles, pearls, heels, and color palette keep this look very feminine.

Duces

So after a morning meeting earlier this week, I decided to have an impromptu photo shoot....which is becoming my favorite kind :)  This is basically an example of my casual day look. [T shirt + shorts + Converse.] I love dressing up and trying new looks. I also think it is okay to dress down and keep it simple. I wouldn't go so far to rock sweatpants. There can be a happy medium in casual wear. A sharp T shirt can take an outfit to the next level even if it is basic. This shirt is from J Crew. J Crew is becoming one of my favorite places to shop for shirts. I like the fabric, the screen prints, and the overall style. In high school I owned a lot of t shirts. I believe my sister called me the The T shirt Queen...

My style has evolved to experimentation and adding a lot more pieces to a look. There is still part of me that is drown to a creative and good quality shirt. You just can't go wrong with that kind of piece in your wardrobe.

Another solid source for a great shirt - HOMAGE! This store is based out of Columbus, Ohio. They have taken the athletic and screen printed shirt to a new height.

Bleed Green

I celebrated my birthday in the Lansing area this year! I wanted my outfit to have East Lansing as my backdrop. The athletic pictures in the window are pretty cool. I'm actually standing in front of the building where the State News is created. I like this outfit because I had fun accessorizing with my big chunky necklace, belt, and booties. This look is edgy, punk, and dark. Its fun wearing this because most days I hardly wear any black. I love my Neon nail polish. It is a great focal point and adds something to the mostly black color pallet.  Neon, black, and white are an interesting combination. Another theme of this outfit that I noticed today was buckles! There are quite a few buckles in this outfit.
