Shoes Galore!

In the city of Holland my family and I were seeing the sites and enjoying the celebration of the Tulip Festival. We watched the parade and went souvenir shopping and wooden shoe stores! This was an interesting way to see the Dutch garb, footwear and overall culture. At the stores you can have the shoes fit to your shoe size! A woman that worked at the store said she had to wear 10 pairs of socks while working. But if someone was to wear wooden shoes during a regular day they would wear 1-3 pairs of socks. When we were shopping there were shoes being made right before our eyes. Some shoes were painted solid yellow while other shoes were painted with windmills on them or other motifs. There were bridal wooden shoes made, which had no color treatment and were only engraved with designs. Even if you were never to wear them they are great momentos and an awesome way to get in touch with a certain culture. Some shoes even had spikes on the bottom! Just in case someone wants to play soccer or golf in them. This was an innteresting experience and I didnt even have to go to the Netherlands to aquire it!
